SHALLOW ACOUSTIC STRATIGRAPHY OF LATE QUATERNARY IN THE COASTAL AND OFFSHORE AREAS OF SOUTHERN OF SHANDONG PENINSULA

  • Based on the high-resolution seismic profiles acquired from the coastal and offshore area in southern Shandong Peninsula,six stratigraphic units (SU1、SU2、SU3、SU4、SU5 and SU6) are established for the late Quaternary. Through the correlation between the shallow seismic profiles and cores QDZ03 and QDZ01 in the study area,we found that the stratigraphic units established upon shallow seismic profiles are well correlated with the depositional units established on the cores. Facies analysis and age dating of the two cores suggest that the SU1, SU3 and SU5 are the marine deposits corresponding to MIS 1, MIS 3 and MIS 5, whereas the SU2 and SU4 are the continental facies corresponding to MIS 2 and MIS 4 respectively.
