PROGRESS IN SEAWATER INTRUSION

The recent progress of seawater intrusion research is summarized in this paper, including those in water chemistry study, water head measurements, geophysical methods and environmental tracers. The problems, which need special attention in application are elaborated. It seems necessary to look for better methods in the future. Time-lapse geophysical methods and new environmental isotope tracers are specifically recommended. Integration of different methods may be more effective.
