Abstract:
Base on the geological data acquired during the project on land and resource investigation, we defined the composition and distribution pattern of the Late Quaternary deposits in the Ningbo plain and constructed the sequence of the deposits. The paleoenvironment was studied by means of
14C dating, thermoluminescence dating and micropalaeontological studies. Both the lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic units were established. Our results suggest that the Ningbo plain has suffered drastic climatic changes from the hot-moist, cool-arid, warm-arid, cold-moist, warm, cold-arid, hot-moist to the warm during Late Quaternary, with two times of large scale transgressions in Late Pleistocene and Holocene respectively. The palaeoclimatic change in the study area accorded well with the global change in the last 130 thousand years.
